UMI's Stage 2 kit FBF002-R takes a different approach than the coil-spring version of the same tier: it upgrades the front coil springs and the front and rear gas-charged monotube shocks, and adds a 1.25" solid front sway bar, while leaving the rear leaf springs in place rather than swapping in rear coils. Upper and lower control arms here are tubular steel finished in red, not the chromoly arms used elsewhere in this lineup.
What to check before buying
Because this kit carries no rear sway bar and keeps the leaf-spring rear end, it suits a car that already rides on leaf springs and just needs the front end and shock package modernized. Mounting hardware is included, and UMI lists the installation as bolt-on with no cutting or welding.
Common questions
Does this kit touch the rear suspension? It keeps the leaf springs; shocks cover the rear, but there is no rear coil spring or rear sway bar in this package.
What color are the control arms? Red tubular steel, running on black polyurethane bushings.

Suspension Setup & Installation Checklist
- Inspect top mounts, damper seals, bushings, and ball joints prior to fitment.
- Set initial spring preload, collar heights, and damper rebound clicks symmetrically left to right.
- Torque all suspension control arm pivot bolts while the vehicle is at resting ride height (loaded suspension).
- Perform a complete 4-wheel laser alignment once ride height has settled to ensure optimal handling and tire wear.
