RideTech's composite leaf spring kit for the 67-70 Mustang replaces the stock steel leaf springs with a composite design, cutting unsprung weight at the rear axle while adding torsional strength to resist wheel hop. A single-adjustable HQ shock with an aluminum body handles damping at each corner, mounted on eyelets at both ends.
What to check before buying
RideTech notes this kit will not fit convertible Mustangs, so confirm your car is a coupe or fastback before ordering. The spring rate is 180 pounds, and the billet spring eyelets are offset to help achieve a lowered stance once installed.
What comes with it
Rear leaf springs, Delrin leaf spring bushings, and the HQ shocks ship together, with the shocks mounted in a staggered pattern, one ahead of the axle and one behind, specifically to cut down on wheel hop under hard acceleration. Mounting hardware and frame brackets are included, and no welding is called for.
Is this a coil-spring kit? No, it uses leaf springs, in a composite rather than steel construction.

Suspension Setup & Installation Checklist
- Inspect top mounts, damper seals, bushings, and ball joints prior to fitment.
- Set initial spring preload, collar heights, and damper rebound clicks symmetrically left to right.
- Torque all suspension control arm pivot bolts while the vehicle is at resting ride height (loaded suspension).
- Perform a complete 4-wheel laser alignment once ride height has settled to ensure optimal handling and tire wear.
