QA1 built the R232-170 around a torque arm rather than a plain trailing-arm layout, pairing a 170-lb. coilover spring with a double adjustable shock for a 73-87 C10 or other GM truck on a Ford 9-inch solid rear axle. Frame brackets and all the mounting hardware ship with the kit, and the whole conversion bolts in with no welding called for.
What to check before buying
Confirm your truck is running that Ford 9-inch solid axle before ordering, since the kit does not include an axle housing of its own. Lowered ride height runs from 4.0 to 7.0 inches, adjustable through the coilover and the panhard bar.
What comes with it
A single-adjustable panhard bar and a torque arm give the rear end its geometry, backed by a lower trailing arm on each side with mount braces included, finished black with a gray-and-silver spring; upper trailing arms and any control arms are left off this particular kit. Bushings are spherical bearings rather than rubber.

Suspension Setup & Installation Checklist
- Inspect top mounts, damper seals, bushings, and ball joints prior to fitment.
- Set initial spring preload, collar heights, and damper rebound clicks symmetrically left to right.
- Torque all suspension control arm pivot bolts while the vehicle is at resting ride height (loaded suspension).
- Perform a complete 4-wheel laser alignment once ride height has settled to ensure optimal handling and tire wear.
