Details & Inspection Notes
This is a complete Model A front suspension kit built around a 48-inch, 4-inch-drop chrome I-beam axle and a urethane-bushed 4-bar setup, designed to run on '37-'48 Ford passenger car spindles rather than original Model A spindles.
What it is for
The kit centers on a 48-inch kingpin-to-kingpin I-beam axle with a 4-inch drop. Also included:
- A 21-inch 4-bar assembly with urethane bushings
- Forged-steel perch bolts and forged-steel, key-slotted lower shock mounts
- Spring shackles fitted with nylon bushings
- A 4-leaf Super Glide cross spring measuring 31-1/4 inches from eye to eye
- All hardware needed for assembly
The axle itself has a chrome finish.
What to check before buying
This kit requires '37-'48 Ford passenger car spindles, which are not included, so confirm you have or can source a compatible set before ordering, since the kit does not include spindles or steering components, and welding is required for installation. A front panhard bar is strongly recommended with any 4-bar front suspension, since 4-bar setups increase suspension travel and side-to-side axle movement compared with original wishbones or radius rods; if you run a Vega cross-steering system, a panhard bar becomes necessary to avoid bump steer.
Common questions
Does this kit include spindles? No, spindles and steering components are not included.

Suspension Setup & Installation Checklist
- Inspect top mounts, damper seals, bushings, and ball joints prior to fitment.
- Set initial spring preload, collar heights, and damper rebound clicks symmetrically left to right.
- Torque all suspension control arm pivot bolts while the vehicle is at resting ride height (loaded suspension).
- Perform a complete 4-wheel laser alignment once ride height has settled to ensure optimal handling and tire wear.
