Details & Inspection Notes
Built for the 1970-81 Camaro and Firebird, this G-Comp kit swaps the factory leaf-spring rear end for a steel truck-arm conversion. It's made to order rather than stocked, so figure on about five business days of production time before it leaves the shop.
How the truck-arm geometry behaves
Each dual I-beam arm pivots from a point just behind the transmission tail shaft and bolts rigidly to the axle housing, limiting the rear end to straight up-and-down travel instead of the side-to-side wander a worn leaf spring allows. Because the design resists torque-induced flex and slip-yoke movement in the driveshaft, braking and hard launches feel more predictable than they do on the stock F-body suspension, and the car tracks straighter through bump, droop, and body roll.
Fitment and what's left to buy
Figure on roughly a 2-inch lower stance once coilovers are installed, and the geometry is sized for 8-inch-wide wheels inside stock wheel wells. A panhard bar is part of the package to hold the axle centered side to side, but shocks, springs, and axle housing are sourced on your own, and there's no sway bar in the standard configuration; G-Comp lists this setup as suited to cars making up to 500 hp.
Does this kit come with shocks and springs? No, those are left for the builder to pick; this kit supplies the truck arms, mounting brackets, and panhard bar.
How long before it ships? It's built to order, averaging about five business days from order to shipment.

Suspension Setup & Installation Checklist
- Inspect top mounts, damper seals, bushings, and ball joints prior to fitment.
- Set initial spring preload, collar heights, and damper rebound clicks symmetrically left to right.
- Torque all suspension control arm pivot bolts while the vehicle is at resting ride height (loaded suspension).
- Perform a complete 4-wheel laser alignment once ride height has settled to ensure optimal handling and tire wear.
