Details & Inspection Notes

At 29.78 in. extended and 18.93 in. collapsed, part 883-26-078 is the longer-travel member of Fox's 3.0 Factory Race Series bypass shock lineup, sharing the same 3.000 in. body diameter and three-tube reservoir layout as its siblings but with more stroke.

What it offers

Adjustment comes from a rotating body cap along with separate compression and rebound valving, plus bypass tuning for compression, rebound, and bleed circuits, so the damping can be set for a specific terrain or driving style. It uses zinc-plated seamless steel bodies, black-anodized 6061-T6 aluminum components, a 7075 hard-anodized aluminum piston, and shafts in 17-4 H900 stainless steel, hard-chrome plated, with PTFE-lined, heat-treated alloy steel spherical bearings at the mounts.

Measurements

  • Lift range: 3.50-4.50 in.
  • Length, extended: 29.78 in.; collapsed: 18.93 in.
  • Eyelet mounts top and bottom
  • Gas charged; no boot included
  • Sold as a pair

Because the extended length here runs longer than other shocks in Fox's 3.0 bypass line, measure the vehicle's available travel before ordering to confirm this specific length suits the planned lift rather than assuming all 3.0 bypass part numbers are interchangeable.

Suspension Setup & Installation Checklist

  • Inspect top mounts, damper seals, bushings, and ball joints prior to fitment.
  • Set initial spring preload, collar heights, and damper rebound clicks symmetrically left to right.
  • Torque all suspension control arm pivot bolts while the vehicle is at resting ride height (loaded suspension).
  • Perform a complete 4-wheel laser alignment once ride height has settled to ensure optimal handling and tire wear.
