Details & Inspection Notes
The Detroit Speed Rear Speed 3 Kit, part 041612DS, is a rear suspension package meant for classics built between the 1960s and 1980s, built to install alongside a matching Detroit Speed front suspension. It pairs non-adjustable coilover shocks with black-finish coilover springs, rather than treating shocks and springs as separate purchases the way the simpler Rear Speed 2 line does.
What the kit includes
Besides the non-adjustable coilover shocks and springs, the box holds a black-powdercoated sway bar measuring 1.125 in., trailing arm mount braces, and bushings made from high-durometer black rubber. Installation is described as bolt-on, without welding required.
The kit leaves out a third member, axle shafts, air bags, a Watts link, a Panhard bar, rotors, and calipers.
Before you order
Rear Speed kits are built around a matching Detroit Speed front end, so plan the front and rear together. If your build needs specific control arms, call us to confirm exactly which arm hardware ships with part 041612DS before you order.

Suspension Setup & Installation Checklist
- Inspect top mounts, damper seals, bushings, and ball joints prior to fitment.
- Set initial spring preload, collar heights, and damper rebound clicks symmetrically left to right.
- Torque all suspension control arm pivot bolts while the vehicle is at resting ride height (loaded suspension).
- Perform a complete 4-wheel laser alignment once ride height has settled to ensure optimal handling and tire wear.
