Details & Inspection Notes

Part 041610DS is the Rear Speed 2 Kit version from Detroit Speed that adds a set of coilover springs to the box, finished in black, so the full shock-and-spring assembly arrives ready to install. Like the rest of the Rear Speed 2 line, it is built to work with a matching Detroit Speed front suspension on vehicles from the 1960s, '70s, and '80s.

What is in the box

Along with the black-finish coilover springs, the kit supplies gas-charged monotube shocks, trailing arms for both the upper and lower rear links set to single-adjustable, trailing arm mount braces, a 1.125 in. black-powdercoated sway bar, and bushings in black rubber.

Left out of this kit, by design, are the third member and axle shafts, any control arms, air bags, a Panhard bar or Watts link, and the rotors and calipers. It ships as one complete kit, with the springs bundled in rather than sold apart from the shocks.

Before ordering

Detroit Speed sells the Rear Speed 2 Kit in more than one drop height and spring configuration, so cross-check this part number against the car's planned stance and against whichever Detroit Speed front suspension is already installed or being purchased alongside it. Matching the two correctly is what keeps ride height and roll behavior consistent front to rear.

Suspension Setup & Installation Checklist

  • Inspect top mounts, damper seals, bushings, and ball joints prior to fitment.
  • Set initial spring preload, collar heights, and damper rebound clicks symmetrically left to right.
  • Torque all suspension control arm pivot bolts while the vehicle is at resting ride height (loaded suspension).
  • Perform a complete 4-wheel laser alignment once ride height has settled to ensure optimal handling and tire wear.
