Details & Inspection Notes
ATK's HP102C is a complete 502 cubic inch big block Ford engine built on a seasoned OE block from 1987-1992, bored and stroked to 4.400 x 4.150, and rated at 515 HP and 585 lb-ft of torque. It ships as a full engine rather than a short block, ready to bolt in once you add the remaining ancillaries your application calls for.
Rotating assembly and top end
Inside, a Scat nodular iron crankshaft runs on internal balance with Scat 4340 forged I beam rods and ARP 8740 bolts, topped with hypereutectic 9.5.1 compression pistons and moly rings. The hydraulic flat tappet camshaft specs out at 225/235 degrees of duration on a 112 LSA, feeding Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads with 75cc chambers, 292cc runners, and 2.190/1.760 valves through stainless steel 1.73 ratio rocker arms.
Fuel, ignition, and tuning
ATK fits a Quick Fuel 780 cfm carburetor with an electric choke, a Holley 110 GPH mechanical fuel pump, a Pro Billet distributor, and 8mm spark plug wires, with timing set at 34-36 Degrees and a .035" spark plug gap. ATK calls for 91+ octane fuel, a 2200-2500 stall converter, and 1 ¾-2" headers to match this build.
