Details & Inspection Notes
This 50 inch straight axle kit builds a semi-elliptical, gasser front end around 1949-54 Chevy-style passenger car spindles, using a plain-steel tube axle with welded ends. On flat plate steering arms, the matching tie rod for this width is 47.5 inches eye-to-eye.
What is in the box
Included are the welded, 0.250 inch wall tube axle, U-bolts with a pair of axle pads, spring shackles sized 1-3/4 inch on nylon bushings, brackets to mount it to the frame, a pair of 32 inch six-leaf springs, and hardware for assembly.
Before you order
The spring pads adjust along the axle and get welded into position once set for your frame width; other widths, plus a custom-length option, are offered if 50 inches is not right for your project. This kit excludes spindles and is not intended for off-road race use.
Does the tie rod length change with axle width? Yes, this 50 inch width uses a 47.5 inch eye-to-eye tie rod.
Are the leaf springs included? Yes, a pair of 32 inch six-leaf springs.
