Details & Inspection Notes
This 48 inch straight axle kit is sized for the semi-elliptical, gasser-style front end, using a tube axle with welded ends that mounts to 1949-54 Chevy-style passenger car spindles. On flat plate steering arms, the correct tie rod length for this width comes out to 45.5 inches, measured eye-to-eye.
Kit contents
Expect a 0.250 inch wall tube axle, a pair of U-bolted axle pads, 1-3/4 inch spring shackles riding on nylon bushings, brackets that bolt to the frame, two 32 inch six-leaf springs, plus all the mounting hardware.
Before you order
Spring pads are adjustable and get welded in place once set for your frame width; if 48 inches is not the length your chassis calls for, other standard widths and a custom size are offered as well. Spindles are not part of the kit, and off-road race use is not what this axle is built for.
Are spindles included with this kit? No, spindles and steering parts are separate.
What is the axle tube's wall thickness? 0.250 inch.
