Details & Inspection Notes
Sized for the 5 on 4-1/2 inch Ford/Mopar bolt pattern, this 46 inch gasser-style front axle kit pairs new Ford-style spindles with a complete brake package; hub-to-hub width comes out to 54-1/4 inches.
What comes with the kit
- Straight tube axle, 46 inches wide
- Semi-elliptical leaf springs, king pins and steering arms
- Forged 4140 steel spindles patterned after 1937-48 Ford round-back units
- Tie rod kit and full brake kit
- Shock mounts (shocks themselves are not included)
Brake and fitment details
The standard brake kit rides on 11 inch vented rotors with 1/2 inch-20 wheel studs, matched to GM metric calipers from the 78-88 era with a 2-1/2 inch bore. Because this is a universal design, welding and fabrication are part of the install, and assembly is required once parts arrive. A Wilwood brake upgrade is offered for this kit as well, though it calls for 15 inch or larger wheels. This axle kit is not meant for off-road race use.
What bolt pattern does the standard brake kit use? 5 on 4-1/2 inch, the Ford/Mopar pattern.
Does the kit include shocks? No, only the shock mounts are included.
