Details & Inspection Notes
This 44 inch straight axle kit gives a project running 1949-54 Chevy-style passenger car spindles a semi-elliptical, gasser-style front end, centered on a plain-steel tube axle with welded ends. Paired with flat plate steering arms, the correct tie rod for this width is 41.5 inches eye-to-eye.
Kit contents
- Tube axle, welded ends, 0.250 inch wall
- Axle pads and U-bolts (pair)
- 1-3/4 inch spring shackles on nylon bushings
- Frame mounting brackets
- Two 32 inch, six-leaf springs
- Assembly hardware
Before you order
Spring pads slide along the axle so they can be welded in place to match your frame width, and a custom axle length is available if 44 inches is not the width your chassis needs. Spindles are not part of this kit, and it is not intended for off-road race use; welding is required throughout the install.
Does this kit include spindles? No, spindles are sold separately.
Is welding required? Yes, to set the spring pads and complete the mounting.
