Details & Inspection Notes
The Toro Power Clear 721 R runs the same 212cc OHV engine and 21-inch intake as the rest of the 721 single-stage lineup, but starts with a pull cord rather than a button, which keeps the unit simpler and independent of any battery.
Recoil start, full throw distance
A pull-cord start has fewer parts that can fail compared with an electric starter and its battery, while this model still sends snow out to 35 feet from the same 212cc engine used on the electric-start 721 E. That makes it a reasonable pick for anyone comfortable pulling a cord who would rather skip the extra cost of electric starting.
Fuel and storage footprint
Fuel capacity sits at .28 gallons, matching the run time typical of a 21-inch single-stage machine, and the chute is aimed with a manual adjustment at the housing rather than a trigger or powered assist. Its single-stage build also stores in less space than a comparable two-stage machine would need.
Keeping it simple
Dropping electric start and its battery is the main thing separating this model from the 721 E, which suits anyone who would rather have one less part that can fail to hold a charge in storage between seasons.
Does the 721 R start electrically or with a cord? With a recoil pull cord; it does not have electric start.
How far does it throw snow? Up to 35 feet.
New, model 38752, with Toro's 2-year consumer warranty.
What colour is it? It comes in the factory red and black finish.
