Details & Inspection Notes
Instead of gas, the Toro Power Clear 21 draws power from two swappable 60-volt brushless batteries, clearing a 21-inch path with push-button electric start and none of the fuel mixing or oil changes a gas single-stage machine asks for.
Getting the most from two batteries
Each L324 battery holds 6.0 amp-hours and 324 watt-hours, and Toro rates the charge time at about 150 minutes per battery, so running two in rotation means one can be on the charger while the other works, or you keep a charged spare ready for a storm that outlasts a single charge. At 62 pounds, the whole unit is noticeably easier to lift onto a step or into a trunk than a comparable gas machine of similar width.
Cutting through crusted snow
A patent-pending Power Edge auger is shaped to bite into crusted or icy snow that a plain rubber paddle auger tends to bounce off of rather than cut, and a locking deflector holds whatever throw angle you set instead of drifting as you push forward. Direction at the chute itself is adjusted by hand right at the housing.
Do both batteries need to be installed to run it? Yes, it is built to draw on its two included batteries together for full run time.
Does it ever need gasoline or oil? No - it runs entirely on battery power, with nothing to mix or change.
This is a new unit, model 39902, with Toro's 2-year consumer warranty.
Colour and intake height? It comes in the factory red and black finish, and the intake opening is 12 inches tall.
