Details & Inspection Notes

Speedway's Sport Mod version of its 360 cubic-inch small-block Chevy keeps the 9.0:1 compression and seasoned four-bolt-main block used across this engine family, built instead around Mahle pistons, a Scat cast crankshaft, and 5.7-inch bushed I-beam connecting rods rather than the longer rods used in a related build.

Top end and ignition

"EQ"-spec cylinder heads and an Edelbrock 2701 Performer EPS intake sit over King XP main bearings, with roller-tip rockers actuating a solid flat-tappet camshaft. HEI ignition and MSD plug wires are fitted, and the intake is matched to a Holley 500 CFM 2-barrel 4412 carburetor that you will need to add yourself.

Quality checks

A Champ-style oil pan is part of the build, and every engine leaves the shop dyno tested with its own printed sheet, lash and timing individually tuned rather than set to a generic average, and the piston rings broken in on a dedicated dyno program. It holds IMCA approval, so confirm your own class rules before racing it, and because this is a competition build, it is not legal for street registration or public-road use in California, with similar limits under federal and other states' rules.

Common questions

What rod length does this one use? 5.7-inch bushed I-beam connecting rods.

Is the carburetor included? No, a Holley 500 CFM 2-barrel 4412 is sourced on your own.
