Details & Inspection Notes
The SP20E is a cast-iron trash pump built for dewatering, driven by a half-horsepower motor that moves water at up to 79 gallons each minute - roughly 4760 gallons over a full hour of continuous run time - through a 2-inch side discharge port.
Why cast iron for this job
A cast-iron housing and impeller stand up to the grit, sand, and debris that come through with dirty water far better than lighter plastic or aluminum pumps do, which is the whole point of a trash pump meant for job-site dewatering rather than clean-water transfer. At 29 pounds, it is still light enough for one person to carry down into a trench or across a flooded yard without help.
Keeping it running
Double mechanical seals sit inside a chamber filled with liquid paraffin oil, a design meant to protect the pump during periods when it runs dry rather than submerged, and a built-in thermal protector cuts power automatically if the motor starts to overheat under load. A 20-foot cord with uni-body construction keeps the electrical connection watertight while giving enough reach to keep the motor away from standing water.
Can it survive running dry for a while? The double mechanical seal setup is built specifically to resist damage during brief dry-running periods.
Can parts be replaced if something wears out? It is built so that every part can be swapped out, rather than being a throwaway unit once something fails.
This pump is new.
Equipment Commissioning & Pre-Start Checklist
- Check engine oil, hydraulic fluid, and coolant levels to manufacturer-specified dipstick/sight-glass marks.
- Inspect fuel shut-off valve, air filter element, and hydraulic hose fittings for secure connections.
- Verify all safety pins, locks, hydraulic couplers, and guards are secured before starting.
- Allow a 3–5 minute warm-up period at low idle to circulate lubricants and hydraulic oil prior to applying load.
