GMLS9005 takes a new, GM-built LS3 rated at 495 HP and 473 lb-ft of torque and dresses it in a 14-inch Classic Intake Kit with chrome Big Block Chevy-style valve covers over a painted-orange block, so the 376-cubic-inch (6.2L) long block looks like vintage muscle while running a 10.7:1 compression ratio underneath.
Built-in electronics and cooling
Rather than leaving tuning to the installer, this engine comes with a Holley Terminator EFI computer already loaded and its wiring harness attached, a round chrome air cleaner on top, and the thermostat housing, balancer, and water pump sourced in Corvette style. High-performance rear-dump exhaust manifolds and a 14-inch automatic-transmission flexplate round out the drivetrain-side parts; there's no flywheel, so this build points to an automatic rather than a manual.
Valve and cam specs
Intake valves measure 2.165 inches and exhaust valves 1.590 inches, working through a 1.7:1 rocker ratio on the aluminum heads. Camshaft lift is .525 inch on both sides, with duration figures of 219 degrees intake and 228 exhaust, and Chevrolet Performance's recommended ceiling sits at 6,600 rpm.
Installing it
This engine suits hot rods, restomods, and pro-touring builds that want LS power under a traditional big-block silhouette. A starter and front accessory drive aren't part of the package, and because the chrome valve covers have no coil-mounting provisions, ignition coils need to be mounted remotely; the included wiring harness still has to be routed and its connections finished during installation.
