Details & Inspection Notes
The Husqvarna ST227P widens its intake to 27 inches and pairs that with a larger 254cc Husqvarna-branded LCT engine, still running trigger-mounted power steering and a friction-disc drive. Heated handgrips and LED headlights both come included rather than sold as extras.
Why the wider housing needs a bigger engine
A 27-inch auger has to chew through more snow with every pass than a narrower housing does, so the 254cc engine exists specifically to keep that wider intake from bogging down once the snow gets heavy and wet. The friction-disc transmission underneath still handles ground speed through a handful of fixed positions rather than a stepless feel, which keeps the mechanics simpler than a hydrostatic unit.
Turning a wider machine
Trigger-mounted power steering becomes more valuable as width increases, since pivoting a wide housing by hand takes real shoulder effort compared with squeezing a grip. Each handlebar grip turns its side independently, which helps threading around parked vehicles or mailbox posts without stopping to reposition. The chute's throw direction and the deflector angle share a single lever, and a .71-gallon tank backs up longer two-stage sessions between fill-ups. Electric start handles the cold mornings without a pull cord.
Is power steering included on the ST227P? Yes, trigger-mounted, standard here.
Are heated handgrips part of the package? Yes, standard on this model, not an add-on.
New, model 961930097, with Husqvarna's 3-year consumer warranty.
Colour and intake height? It comes in the factory orange and black finish, and the intake opening is 23 inches tall.
Equipment Commissioning & Pre-Start Checklist
