Details & Inspection Notes
The BFP10D3XH is a manual-start-only version of Honda's 9.9 hp High Thrust outboard, set up with a 25-inch extra-long shaft and tiller steering, built for owners who want the simplest possible portable engine with no battery or electrical system to maintain.
Why go manual-only
Dropping electric start and power tilt keeps this engine lighter than its electric-start siblings in the same High Thrust line, at 107 pounds, and removes the alternator wiring and switches that a backcountry or saltwater owner might rather not deal with. Tilt is set by hand instead of a power trim motor, and starting is by pull-cord only, so there is no battery to charge, wire, or replace down the road.
Fit and what ships with it
The powerhead is a two-cylinder, four-stroke, 222cc design fed by a carburetor, topping out near a 5000-6000 rpm full-throttle range. At 25 inches, this is the taller-transom option in the High Thrust lineup; a shorter leg elsewhere in the same series suits lower transoms instead, and measuring your own boat first avoids a motor that sits too high or too low in the water. Equipment includes the owner's manual, a stop-switch lanyard, an external fuel tank, fuel line, a charging system, and the High Thrust propeller, with Honda's 5-year warranty behind it.
Does it charge a battery if I add one? It includes a charging system, though starting itself stays manual. Is power tilt included? No, tilt is set by hand on this version.
