Details & Inspection Notes
Honda's Power Thrust take on this 998cc, three-cylinder, 60 HP block is the BFP60A1LRT, fitted with a dedicated gear case and larger propeller built for pontoons and heavier hulls; dry weight comes in at a listed 256 pounds on a 20-inch shaft. New.
What Power Thrust changes versus the standard engine
This gear case and its larger propeller are sized specifically for pushing wider, heavier hulls like pontoons rather than lighter runabouts, unlike the standard BF60 built on the same displacement. Easy Dock Steering is unique to this version too, turning 50 degrees to port and starboard against roughly 35 degrees on typical competitive outboards, which helps in tight marina slips. BLAST, programmable fuel injection, and Lean Burn Control carry over from the standard engine, and full throttle reaches 5000-6000 rpm.
Before you buy
Confirm the hull actually calls for the larger Power Thrust gear case rather than a standard setup, since this version is heavier and geared differently than its non-Power-Thrust counterpart. Steering is remote and mechanical on this one too, so a console with cable controls needs to already be wired into the boat.
What comes with it
This Power Thrust motor also comes with a printed owner's manual in the box. A freshwater flush fitting and a charging system are standard, and power trim and tilt is included for helm-adjusted running angle. A five-year factory warranty applies, and the engine starts electrically.
