Details & Inspection Notes

Honda rates the BF225DXDA at 225 horsepower, a four-stroke V6 turning a 25-inch shaft. Dry weight here comes to 617 lbs. Shift and throttle are digitally controlled through iST on this configuration, skipping the usual cable. No counter-rotating gearcase is fitted here; the propeller turns the conventional direction, suited to a single engine or the non-mirrored side of a twin pair. The powerhead here is 3583cc across six cylinders, fuel-injected rather than carbureted.

Rigging and transom fit

Before ordering, take a transom measurement and compare it to this 25-inch shaft, since the wrong fit undercuts both performance and cooling. Expect 5000-6000 rpm at full throttle from this configuration. This horsepower range is common on repower jobs where the hull's rated capacity hasn't changed.

What's included

Beyond the digital shift-and-throttle linkage, onboard equipment runs to a charging circuit and a cooling-system flush fitting, plus trim and tilt; the manual is included, good for five years of Honda coverage. You'll need to add a propeller as its own purchase.

Is this the right rotation for my repower? If you're replacing a single outboard, yes; twin rigs need one standard and one counter-rotating motor.

Is the propeller part of this package? No, you'll need to order one separately to fit your boat.

What's the induction system on this engine? EFI handles fuel delivery here rather than a carburetor.

Is there a manual-pull backup for starting? No, starting on this motor is electric only.
