Details & Inspection Notes
Step up to the longer shaft in Honda's 200 hp range and you reach the BF200DXCRA, built with a counter-rotation lower unit that spins the propeller opposite to Honda's standard gearing. Weighing 613 pounds, it runs the same 3583cc, six-cylinder EFI engine as the rest of the 200 hp lineup, full throttle opening at 5000 and climbing to 6000 rpm, with electric start and remote mechanical steering on a 25-inch shaft.
What counter rotation is actually for
The main case for it is a twin-engine installation, where opposite-turning propellers on each motor cancel out the steering pull a matched pair of standard-rotation engines would otherwise fight; check with us whether your rigging calls for standard or counter rotation before ordering, since the two lower units take different, non-interchangeable propellers. This 25-inch shaft fits a taller transom than the shorter-shaft option Honda sells in this same 200 hp group.
Equipment included
What's in the crate: the onboard charging system, a port that flushes the cooling passages with fresh water, and power-adjustable trim and tilt, alongside the owner's manual. No propeller rides along with this motor, so sourcing one that matches the counter-rotation gearing is left to you.
Care to plan for
Whichever rotation you choose, giving a new motor a break-in period before running it hard pays off long term, and using the freshwater flush port after every saltwater outing keeps the cooling passages from scaling up over time.
Is this a tiller motor? No, it is remote mechanical. What warranty does it carry? Five years, on this new unit.
