The BF140AXCDA is Honda's 140 hp iST outboard fitted with a counter-rotating lower unit on a 25-inch shaft, built as the opposite-rotation half of a twin-outboard installation.

Counter-rotation notes

This engine's propeller turns opposite a standard-rotation motor, so it is meant to be matched with a standard-rotation partner on a twin-engine transom to keep the boat tracking straight under power rather than pulling to one side. Check what your other engine turns before buying this one; measure your transom to this model's 25-inch shaft as well.

iST and power

On this engine, iST takes over shift and throttle electronically instead of a mechanical cable, so the helm side of your rigging has to match that system before you can install it. Four cylinders here add up to 2354cc, EFI supplies the fuel, and the starter is electric. Honda's full-throttle window sits between 5000 and 6000 rpm, and weight comes in at 485 lbs. Plan your helm layout around the iST module rather than a conventional cable run.
