Details & Inspection Notes
This used Evinrude E30DRG keeps things simple: tiller steering, a rope-pull start, and manual tilt on a 30 HP two-cylinder E-TEC, lighter than the remote, power-trim versions in this range.
Why the lighter weight matters
Without a power trim motor or remote-steering hardware, there is simply less equipment bolted to the transom, which can matter on a smaller boat or when lifting the motor by hand rather than hitting a switch. An electric-start accessory and a remote-steering kit are both listed as conversions if you want either one later, without changing the base tiller rigging today.
Numbers on this unit
It is rigged on a shaft of 20 in and tips the scale at 154 lbs; keep both numbers in mind when comparing it to other 30 HP motors.
A used motor's idle behavior, once warmed up, can reveal carburetion or injection issues that a quick test run at the dock will not.
Check that the kill-switch lanyard clip is not cracked or missing, a small part that is easy to overlook until you need it most at the helm.
Ask whether the motor has spent most of its life in fresh water or salt water, since that history affects what to inspect closely.
Can I add electric start? It is listed as an accessory over the standard rope start.
Is tilt manual on this unit? Yes, manual tilt rather than powered.
