Details & Inspection Notes
The 2X 28 adds IntelliPower engine technology to a 272cc base: electronics built to hold engine speed steady under load, which Cub Cadet credits with freeing up to 20 percent more power and cutting down on surging right after a cold start.
What IntelliPower changes
Rather than running at a fixed throttle regardless of load, the engine's electronics adjust to keep speed steady as snow density changes through a pass, the main thing setting this apart from a plain two-stage model of similar size. A 28-inch clearing width and 16-inch X-Trac tires carry that extra engine management into wider, grippier use.
Controls
A steel discharge chute turns on an overhead crank, trigger-controlled steering sits at each handle, a friction disc feeds a heavy-duty cast-aluminum gear box, and dual LED headlights cover low light, with electric start standard.
Basic care still applies
Electronic engine management doesn't change basic small-engine care: fresh fuel and the right oil still matter for a smooth cold start, the same as on any other engine in this lineup. The IntelliPower electronics manage speed once the engine is running; they don't replace routine fuel and oil checks before the season starts.
What does IntelliPower actually do? It holds engine speed steady, credited with cutting surging after a cold start and freeing up to 20 percent more power.
Tank, model, coverage? .5 gallons, model 31AH5IVTB10, 3-year consumer warranty, new.
What colour is it? It comes in the factory yellow and black finish.
Equipment Commissioning & Pre-Start Checklist
- Check engine oil, hydraulic fluid, and coolant levels to manufacturer-specified dipstick/sight-glass marks.
- Inspect fuel shut-off valve, air filter element, and hydraulic hose fittings for secure connections.
- Verify all safety pins, locks, hydraulic couplers, and guards are secured before starting.
- Allow a 3–5 minute warm-up period at low idle to circulate lubricants and hydraulic oil prior to applying load.
