The "Crate Buster" 355 is a race-only oval track engine built for alcohol fuel, rated at 545 hp and 517 lb-ft of torque from a 355-cubic-inch small-block. It is built around a seasoned, stock four-bolt-main block with cast-iron cylinder heads, forged aluminum pistons, and a forged-steel crankshaft, aimed squarely at IMCA, dirt, and other sanctioned oval track classes rather than street use.
What is under the valve covers
A solid flat-tappet camshaft works through a single-plane aluminum intake, with forged 4340-steel connecting rods tying the rotating assembly together. Valve covers, cylinder heads, oil pan, timing cover, water pump, and harmonic balancer all ship installed and assembled, along with spark plugs and spark plug wires. The intake manifold and distributor are included as well, though a carburetor is not.
Before you race it
This engine is dyno-tested and broken in before it leaves the shop, with a dyno sheet included for your specific unit, so further break-in is not required. It is built for alcohol fuel rather than gasoline, so budget for the fuel system changes that entails, and confirm it meets your own track's rules before committing to a class. A limited warranty for race use applies here; the manufacturer can provide the exact terms.
