Details & Inspection Notes
A Chevrolet Performance LS364 long block, built around the Gen III/Gen IV LS platform that GM introduced in 1997 and sized to retrofit into most existing LS-equipped vehicles rather than require a ground-up engine control redesign.
What makes this long block different from an older Gen III engine
The control electronics on this long block are built around a 24X signal at the crank and a 1X signal at the cam, matching what Chevrolet used on its Gen III small-block V8s between 1997 and 2006, so most of the sensors, exhaust, and mounts already on a Gen III-equipped vehicle should carry over to this swap. Where it departs from a stock Gen III is the cylinder heads: the ports here are the larger, rectangular style borrowed from Gen IV LS3 engines rather than the smaller passages Gen III heads used, so a rectangular-port intake manifold pulled from a compatible Gen IV truck or car is needed to finish the install.
What's under the heads
Inside is a 364 cubic inch (6.0-liter) displacement on a 4.000 x 3.622-inch bore and stroke, a cast-iron, six-bolt, cross-bolted block, nodular iron crankshaft, powdered metal rods, and hypereutectic aluminum pistons, topped by an LS6-style hydraulic roller camshaft at a 0.550-inch lift figure and 204 degrees of intake duration paired with 218 degrees of exhaust duration. Compression runs a nominal 10.3:1, with premium pump fuel recommended and a 6,800 rpm maximum, often referred to by its LS364/450 designation.
Common questions
Will my old intake manifold bolt on? No, a new intake with a rectangular port is required, sourced from a compatible Gen IV application.
Is this fuel injection capable? Yes, and existing induction components or a custom build can be transferred over.
