Details & Inspection Notes
This 427 combo is the carbureted, polished-accessory-drive version in BluePrint's higher-output small-block lineup; compression runs 10.0:1, good for 540 horsepower and 535 lb-ft of torque. It pairs the same forged crankshaft, forged pistons, and aluminum cylinder heads used across BluePrint's 427 builds with a 700R4 automatic transmission.
What it is built for
This carbureted 427 suits a builder who wants straightforward induction rather than electronic fuel injection, while keeping the automatic 700R4 pairing. The long block uses the same forged internals and aluminum heads as BluePrint's fuel-injected 427 combo, just with different induction.
What to check before ordering
The torque converter in this package stalls at 2,200-2,400 rpm, with the flexplate and starter included alongside it. At 540 horsepower, confirm your fuel system, cooling, and motor mounts are sized for this output before installing it. Confirm the exact carburetor size and accessory-drive finish with us before ordering. This engine is not a direct OEM replacement, so a California installation needs to follow the Bureau of Automotive Repairs engine-change process.
Common questions
Is this the EFI or carbureted 427? Carbureted; BluePrint also sells a fuel-injected version of this same 427 combo.
Does this automatic combo need a flywheel? No — BluePrint includes a flexplate for that instead.
Is a distributor included? Yes, a distributor is part of the long block's ignition system.
