Details & Inspection Notes
This is the carbureted version of BluePrint's 383 Truck Edition, built for 4WD trucks that need low-end torque without relying on fuel injection. A Holley 750 CFM carburetor feeds the 405-horsepower, 10.0:1-compression small block, which makes 458 lb-ft of torque through a transfer-case-ready 700R4 automatic.
What it is built for
Low-end pull is the goal, using the same truck-tuned camshaft and compression spec as BluePrint's EFI 4WD combo, aimed at trail and towing torque rather than high-rpm power, but fuel delivery here is a traditional carburetor instead of electronic injection. Aluminum heads, a dual-plane intake, and a polished front accessory drive round out this version of the long block.
What to check before ordering
This 700R4 carries the 4WD hardware: a 27-spline stub shaft and a case built to bolt up to common GM 4-bolt transfer cases, so confirm that pattern matches your setup. This 700R4's converter stalls at 2,200-2,400 rpm, matched to towing duty rather than strip launches. California treats this kind of swap as an engine change rather than a direct replacement, which means following the state's Bureau of Automotive Repairs policy on engine changes.
Common questions
What size is the carburetor? A 750 CFM Holley.
Does it need a separate ignition system? No, a distributor is included as part of the long block.
Is a flywheel supplied? This 4WD automatic combo uses a flexplate in its place, already in the kit.
