Details & Inspection Notes

BluePrint's 383 Truck Edition pairs a fuel-injected 405-horsepower small-block Chevy stroker with a transfer-case-ready 700R4 automatic, aimed at 4WD trucks that need torque more than top-end horsepower. Torque comes in at 458 lb-ft, with a 10.0:1 compression ratio feeding through a Holley Sniper 2 EFI system and a polished front accessory drive.

What it is built for

The camshaft and compression here are tuned for low-end pull rather than high-rpm output, which is why BluePrint markets this as the truck and trail version of the 383 rather than the street combo. Aluminum cylinder heads and a hydraulic roller cam sit on BluePrint's own cast iron block, with a dual-plane intake and a Pro Series ready-run distributor feeding the EFI system.

What to check before ordering

The 700R4 in this kit is the 4WD version, built with a 27-spline stub shaft and a transfer-case-ready case meant to accept common GM 4-bolt transfer cases, so confirm your transfer case matches that bolt pattern. The torque converter stalls around 2,200-2,400 rpm, suited to towing and trail driving rather than drag-strip launches. This part is sold for engine changes rather than as a direct factory replacement, and California installations must comply with the state's Bureau of Automotive Repairs engine-change policy.

Common questions

Does it include a carburetor? No, fuel delivery is through the included Holley Sniper 2 EFI system, not a carburetor.

Is a transmission controller needed? The package is a complete kit including the torque converter, flexplate, and starter alongside the 700R4.

What color is the accessory drive? Polished, matching the rest of this kit's front-end hardware.
