Details & Inspection Notes
The HP89CBLK dresses ATK's 350 long block in black powder-coated valve covers, "Chevrolet" embossed into the casting, on a combination good for 390 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Between the covers and the air cleaner, it is set up to drop in with little extra shopping.
What ships installed
Up top sits a 14-inch by 3-inch Super Flow air cleaner with a washable filter, feeding a Quick Fuel 680 CFM carburetor that uses vacuum secondaries and an electric choke. Fuel comes from a Holley mechanical pump rated at 110 gallons per hour, plumbed through a dual-inlet stainless line. A chrome housing carries the 180 degree thermostat, spark comes from a black HEI distributor, and the valve covers themselves carry a matching PCV valve with a push-in breather.
The long block underneath
Displacement is 350 cubic inches, with ATK's own aluminum cylinder heads and a double roller chain keeping the hypereutectic pistons timed correctly at 10:1 compression underneath the dress parts. Plan on conventional 10W30 oil carrying a zinc additive for the opening 3,000 miles, then settle into 91 octane fuel once the engine is broken in.
Q: Does this include the carburetor and distributor? Yes, the carburetor, intake, distributor, air cleaner, and valve covers all ship installed on this complete build.
Because so many accessories are already mounted, double-check alternator and power steering bracket clearance against the black valve covers before finalizing your swap.
