Details & Inspection Notes
ATK's HP36C is the complete build of its 435 hp, 475 lb-ft 383 stroker, running those same AFR aluminum heads, 72cc chambers and 180cc ports, valves opening to 2.02/1.60, finished with the Edelbrock dual-plane intake, carburetor, distributor, and water pump installed rather than left as recommendations.
What this tier adds
A nodular-iron crank from Scat drives matching Scat I-beam rods, bolted with ARP 8740 hardware, under forged pistons at 10:1 compression. Beyond the installed induction and ignition, the oil pan, timing cover, and harmonic balancer are all in place, leaving mostly the flexplate or flywheel outside the engine, which depends on your transmission choice.
Points worth checking first
- The carburetor is a vacuum-secondary, electric-choke design matched to the included dual-plane intake.
- Fuel pump here is a mechanical unit, consistent with the carbureted induction.
- This build runs happiest on premium fuel given the compression and cam combination.
- Spark plugs and plug wires ship with this complete build as well, so ignition is ready to go once it is installed.
Common questions
Is the carburetor mounted on the engine? Yes, this complete build ships with the carburetor and distributor installed.
What's different from the base HP36? The intake, carburetor, distributor, and water pump are installed here instead of left for the builder.
Does it include a flexplate or flywheel? No, that choice is left to match your transmission, the same as the rest of ATK's 383 stroker family.
