Details & Inspection Notes

ATK markets this HP101C as a complete build of its 383 stroker platform at 460 hp, running a seasoned GM 4-bolt main block, a forged steel stroker crankshaft, aluminum performance heads, and forged high-performance pistons at a 10.0:1 compression ratio with a hydraulic roller cam.

What to know before you buy

For the core charge, ATK will take nearly any 350-cubic-inch small-block Chevy, aside from 1992-1997 LT1-style castings, which gives some flexibility if you are trading in a used block. As with ATK's other high-compression 383 builds, expect limited vacuum signal, so this is not a good match for a vacuum-assisted power-brake booster.

What to check before you buy

  • Recommended tuning calls for 91-octane-or-higher fuel, 34-36 degrees of initial timing, and a stall-speed converter around 2,500 RPM or higher.
  • Ignition is set up around an HEI-style distributor, following the standard small-block Chevy firing order.
  • Confirm the installed parts list with us before ordering.

Common questions

Will it run on a stock power-brake booster? No, this build is not expected to supply enough vacuum for that kind of booster.

What's the ideal core to trade in? Any 350-cubic-inch small-block Chevy other than a 1992-1997 LT1-style engine.

What's the compression ratio? 10.0:1, running on forged high-performance pistons.
