This ATK long block, part number HP101C, puts 470 hp into a 6.3-liter, 383-cubic-inch small-block Chevy package, built around a forged rotating assembly, a hydraulic roller cam, and aluminum cylinder heads at a 10.0:1 compression ratio that stays friendly to pump gas.
What comes with it
Carburetor, intake manifold, distributor, oil pan, valve covers, timing cover, a long-style water pump, harmonic balancer, flexplate, spark plugs, and plug wires are all installed on this complete build. A flywheel, air cleaner, computer, and wiring harness are left off, so budget for those if your project needs them.
What to check before you buy
- The induction is carbureted, specified around a 750 CFM carburetor; an aftermarket EFI system is a separate conversion if you want fuel injection instead.
- The flexplate suits automatic-transmission use; a manual-transmission build still needs its own flywheel.
- This combination is happiest on premium fuel, 91 octane or better.
