Details & Inspection Notes
The Ariens Compact Track swaps standard wheels for a track drive system, aimed at icy or slippery surfaces where wheeled two-stage blowers can lose traction. It shares its 223cc engine and 24-inch intake with Ariens' wheeled Compact model.
Why tracks instead of wheels
Tracks spread weight over a larger contact area and generally grip better on packed ice, sloped driveways, or crusted snow than a wheeled machine of the same size, at the cost of some maneuverability on bare pavement. Pick this over the wheeled version if traction on ice has been the bigger problem in past winters.
Handling and controls
Interlocking handles let one hand stay on the chute control while the other works the drive, and the handlebars fold down for easier storage between storms. Chute deflector control operates remotely from the dash, and the gear case is cast iron.
What's the fuel tank size? .8 gallons.
Does it have a headlight? Yes, halogen.
What's the warranty? Covered 3 years as a consumer unit; model number 920028.
If icy driveways or slopes have caused a wheeled blower to spin out in past seasons, the track drive here is the main reason to step up to this model rather than the standard wheeled Compact. The trade-off is a bit more weight to maneuver on bare, dry pavement between storms, which is worth accepting if traction has been the recurring problem.
What colour is it? It comes in the factory orange and black finish.
Equipment Commissioning & Pre-Start Checklist
- Check engine oil, hydraulic fluid, and coolant levels to manufacturer-specified dipstick/sight-glass marks.
- Inspect fuel shut-off valve, air filter element, and hydraulic hose fittings for secure connections.
- Verify all safety pins, locks, hydraulic couplers, and guards are secured before starting.
- Allow a 3–5 minute warm-up period at low idle to circulate lubricants and hydraulic oil prior to applying load.
