Details & Inspection Notes

This front left door shell is a reproduction replacement for a 1970-72 Chevelle or Malibu 2-door, built by Sherman and finished for an easy fit against the surrounding panels.

Who it suits

A driver-side door with rust along the bottom or rocker area, or one that has been cut apart for prior patch repairs, is a candidate for a full shell rather than another patch, since this replaces the whole outer door structure in one piece.

What to check before buying

This is the left front door shell only; the right side ships as a separate part, so order both if your Chevelle or Malibu needs doors on both sides. Sherman builds this to the same fit standard it uses for parts supplied to OEM production, though as with any door shell, expect trial fitting, trimming and welding during installation.

Which side does this shell fit? The front left (driver) side.

What body style does it fit? 1970-72 Chevelle and Malibu 2-door models.

Performance Installation & Verification Checklist

  • Disconnect vehicle battery ground terminal before installing any electrical, sensor, or powertrain hardware.
  • Inspect all vacuum lines, fuel lines, and wiring harness connectors for secure, leak-free engagement.
  • Calibrate electronic sensors, boost control solenoids, and ECU maps according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Perform initial datalogging check under light load before subjecting vehicle to wide-open throttle.
