Power Thrust design

Being a BFP model, this motor gets Honda's Power Thrust design, adding roughly 60 percent more thrust in reverse and 15 percent more going forward compared with the standard line, along with reverse exhaust relief for easier low-speed maneuvering around a dock. That added thrust is the main reason to pick this model over a non-BFP version at the same horsepower and shaft length, and it is part of why the lower unit differs from the rest of this 15 hp family.

Engine and running range

Two cylinders combine for 350cc on this carbureted engine, its valve train SOHC-driven and sparked by PGM-IG ignition, fed from a 3.2-gallon tank mounted outside the cowling. The 25-inch shaft is the longest Honda offers in this family, so size your transom to it before ordering. Full throttle lands at 4,500-5,500 rpm per Honda's figures, the gearcase runs 2.08:1, and saltwater use is rated for the block.
