Details & Inspection Notes
The 2018 Evinrude E25DGTE is a new 25 HP outboard in graphite, pairing electric-and-rope starting with a manual trim lever on the shorter 15-inch shaft within this horsepower class.
Why the short-shaft, manual-trim build is lighter
Dry weight comes to 162 pounds, kept down because running angle here is set by hand instead of through a powered trim motor. The inline two-cylinder E-TEC powerhead measures 2.992 inches by 2.5 inches for its bore and stroke, totaling 577 cc, and reaches a 5,500-to-6,000 RPM ceiling through mechanical controls behind tiller steering.
Trim window and the charging system
Trim moves across a -4 to 16 degree window by hand, with tilt opening up to 65 degrees. The gearcase runs a 2.15:1 ratio. Alternator capacity totals 56 amps, with 15 amps net dedicated for accessories such as a livewell pump.
Oil, fuel, and coverage
The recommended lubricant is Evinrude/Johnson XD-100. This E25DGTE is new, not used or refurbished, running on unleaded fuel, and Evinrude backs the powerhead with a 3-year, non-declining warranty starting from the date of purchase.
Does the trim adjust on its own? No, this build relies on a hand lever rather than a switch. What starts the engine? Either a key or a pull cord. What color does it ship in? Graphite.
