What's under the cowling
Bore and stroke measure 60 x 45mm on an OHV head with 2 valves for the single cylinder, fed by a carburetor off an internal 1.5-liter fuel tank, running a 4,500 to 5,500 rpm full-throttle range through a 2.08:1 gear ratio with forward-neutral-reverse shifting. It is water cooled, saltwater rated, and tips the scale at 60.6000 lbs on Honda's own spec sheet.
What to check before buying
Shaft length is the first thing to confirm: this is the 20-inch long-shaft version, so measure your transom height before ordering rather than assuming the short-shaft BF4DHSHNA will work in its place. Starting plus trim and tilt are both manual on this model, and the alternator is optional, a 6-amp unit that needs separate installation rather than coming wired in. It runs on 87-octane unleaded gasoline with FC-W 10W-30 oil through wet-sump lubrication, and carries Honda's Ultra Low 3-Star CARB emissions rating.
