Honda's 2017 BF2.3DHSCH pairs a 15-inch short shaft with the same 2.3 hp, forced-air-cooled, single-cylinder, 57.2cc engine sold under this family's longer-shaft DHLCH badge, aimed at small tenders, jon boats, and canoes rather than a deep-transom boat. Everything runs manually here, from starting to trim and tilt, through tiller steering, and the carbureted engine peaks close to 6000 rpm once past 5000 at full throttle. Built in China, it's new and rated for saltwater, with Honda's 5-year warranty.
Matching shaft to boat
Fifteen inches suits a shallow transom; Honda offers the same 2.3 hp block on a 20-inch shaft for taller boats, so confirm which length your hull calls for first. A 2.42:1 gear ratio drives a 3-blade polypropylene propeller, and steering swings a full 360 degrees for close-quarters handling.
