Details & Inspection Notes
This Yamaha F30LA delivers 30 hp from a three-cylinder four-stroke on a 20-inch shaft, light enough at 214 pounds to suit aluminum fishing boats and inflatables, with remote mechanical steering and an electric starter. Nitro Assist Tilt is built in to ease manual tilting of the motor.
What Nitro Assist Tilt does
Rather than relying solely on muscle to tip the motor up for shallow water or trailering, this assist system uses gas-spring tension to reduce the effort needed, which matters on a motor this size when power tilt isn't fitted.
What's included
Trim and tilt are powered on this motor, steering runs through a link arm rather than cable alone, and a fuel line rounds things out along with the printed manual. Buy the propeller separately, since none is bundled in.
Fitment
Line up your transom against a 20-inch shaft, and confirm remote mechanical steering is already set up on your boat; this is not a tiller model. A battery is needed for the electric starter.
Trim tabs versus motor trim
Power trim on the motor adjusts the running angle of the whole drive, which is a different job from a boat's own trim tabs, if fitted; the two work together rather than one replacing the other, so don't expect the motor's trim alone to fully level out an unevenly loaded boat.
Engine
Three-cylinder, 747cc, EFI induction, sold new.
Common questions
What size boats suit this weight? Lightweight craft such as aluminum fishing boats and inflatables.
