Details & Inspection Notes

No battery needed: the Yamaha F15SMHA is a 15 hp, two-cylinder four-stroke that starts on a pull cord, steered by tiller, sold new at 111 lbs. It runs on a single carburetor across 362cc and tops its full-throttle band at 6000 rpm, with 5000 rpm at the bottom end.

Who it suits

No battery, starter motor, or charging wiring means less to maintain and less weight to carry, which suits small aluminum boats, tenders, and inflatables where simplicity is worth more than a push-button. One person can lift this one on and off a transom unassisted.

Before you order

This shaft length only works on the transom height it was built for; go too tall and the motor rides high, losing cooling flow and steering bite, so match the 15-inch shaft to the boat first. Being carbureted, it also needs fuel stabilized or drained ahead of any long storage period to avoid carburetor gum-up.

What ships with the motor

Count on a safety lanyard, a fuel line, an aluminum propeller, and the printed owner's manual being included with this unit. None of that extra hardware changes how simple the motor itself is to start and run.

Common questions

Is steering tiller or remote-mounted? Tiller, worked by hand. Does it need a battery to start? No, it is pull-start only. What is the warranty? 3 years.
