Details & Inspection Notes

The Tuff Stuff Performance 7139BBULL is a new 100-amp alternator in a polished finish with a V-groove pulley, wired for 12-volt, negative-ground systems and set up to connect either with the original OEM wiring or as a 1-wire unit.

Build details

Among this unit's features are heavy-duty, copper-wound coils and diodes resistant to voltage spikes, with charging said to come on at low RPM. Tuff Stuff states these alternators are hand-assembled in Cleveland, Ohio and bench-tested to at least OEM specifications. The case runs 4.85 in. deep, with a lower mount boss 2 in. long.

Fitment to confirm

Tuff Stuff's published list for this part spans 1968 through 1987 for Buick, Chevy, GMC, Olds and Pontiac models, and separately takes in 1980-1982 Jeeps running the 4.2L six (258). Specific cases called out are a 1987 Buick Regal and a Chevrolet Monte Carlo of the same year with the 3.8L V6 (231), plus a 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass running the 5.0L V8 (305). Falling inside that date range alone isn't proof of fit; cross-check the specific year, model and engine combination against Tuff Stuff's list before ordering.
