The COMP Cams K68-231-4 Xtreme Energy 4x4 kit is a hydraulic flat-tappet camshaft built for AMC 199-258 cubic-inch and Jeep 232-258 cubic-inch inline-six engines, with COMP's application range running 1964 through 1997. It is aimed at low- and mid-range pull for towing, off-road driving and daily use rather than a high-rpm powerband.
Specs that matter for this swap
At .050-inch lift, duration runs 206 degrees intake and 214 exhaust, on a 111-degree lobe separation angle, with an 800 to 5,000 rpm operating window. Valve lift with the stock rocker ratio is 0.462 inch intake and 0.485 inch exhaust. This camshaft is not compatible with fuel-injected setups; it is built for carbureted inline sixes only, so confirm your induction system before ordering.
What ships in the kit
Along with the camshaft itself, the kit includes matched hydraulic flat-tappet lifters, valve springs, retainers, locks, valve stem seals, a timing chain and gears, and assembly lubricant. Rocker arms, pushrods and gaskets are not part of the package, so budget for those separately if your rebuild needs them. The valve springs supplied are rated for this cam, meaning no separate spring upgrade is required.

Will this work with factory exhaust manifolds? It is designed to work with common restrictive factory and OEM exhaust manifolds, so a header swap is not required.
Does it need an external ignition box? No external ignition control box is required for this camshaft.
