Details & Inspection Notes
Built on the TR-6060 platform, the TREMEC TUET18131 Magnum XL T56 is sized for late-model GM rear-wheel-drive cars, with an extended-length XL tail housing that keeps the shifter in the factory location rather than requiring a relocation kit.
What it is for
This transmission can absorb as much as 700 lb-ft of torque, using a reinforced one-piece countershaft and upgraded synchronizers to handle naturally aspirated, supercharged, turbocharged, or stroker engine combinations, with double overdrive gearing to reduce cruising RPM on the highway. A direct-mount isolated shifter is built in for precise, low-vibration shifting, and the gearset itself is the same close-ratio design TREMEC uses across its late-model Magnum lineup.
What to check before buying
- Fitment: built for late-model GM platforms including Camaro, GTO, CTS-V, and custom Corvette applications.
- Speed rating: handles engine speeds up to 7,800 RPM.
- What is not included: bellhousing, shifter handle, and slip yoke are sold separately.
How much does the bare unit weigh? Approximately 150 pounds.
What is the fluid capacity? Roughly 3.7 Quarts.
What is the warranty? Like TREMEC's other late-model units, it carries a 1-year limit on material and workmanship defects.
First gear runs 2.66:1 down to a 0.63:1 overdrive top gear, built here into the longer XL housing rather than the shorter F-body case, which is the main difference from TREMEC's direct-replacement Magnum-F unit. transmissions
