The TREMEC TUET16362 T56 Magnum-F swaps in as a direct bolt-in replacement for the factory T-56 fitted to 1998 through 2002 Camaro and Firebird cars built around the LS1 F-body platform. A close-ratio 2.66:1 first gear keeps engine RPM in the power band during hard acceleration.
What it is for
Rated for 700 lb-ft of torque, this Magnum-platform transmission adds reinforced internals, wider gear faces, and combination double- and triple-cone synchronizers over the original factory unit, aimed at pro-touring, road racing, and drag racing builds rather than stock replacement alone. A provision for a transmission oil cooler circuit is built into the case.
What to check before buying
- Fitment: a direct replacement for 1998-2002 LS1 F-body cars, and also used in 1993-1997 LT1 conversions.
- Shifter: positioned at the factory GM F-body location, so no shifter relocation kit is needed.
- What is not included: bellhousing, clutch kit, and yoke are sold separately.
