Details & Inspection Notes

This TREMEC TKX LS Swap Kit bundles a complete manual-transmission conversion for Gen III and Gen IV LS engines, covering LS1, LS2, LS3, and the 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, and 6.2-liter truck and car LS variants with a 6-bolt crankshaft, aimed at Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, El Camino, C10, Bel Air, Impala, GTO, and Firebird LS-swap projects.

What separates this from the standalone TKX

Unlike a bare transmission, this kit includes a steel LS-specific bellhousing, a performance clutch kit, a hydraulic throwout bearing, a billet steel flywheel, pilot bearing, and all the bellhousing and flywheel hardware, plus reverse light and electronic speedometer harnesses, so most of the clutch-side parts needed for an LS conversion are already accounted for.

Transmission specs

The TKX itself carries a 600 lb-ft torque rating, shifts crisply through 7,500 rpm, and lets the driveline spin as high as 8,000 rpm. First gear sits at 2.87, running 1.89 in second and 1.28 in third before a 0.68 overdrive fifth, with 2.56 in reverse; running 26 splines into the engine side and 31 out the back, the whole package weighs roughly 99 lbs for the transmission alone. Clutch operation is hydraulic, and a shifter ships with the kit.

Does this kit include the bellhousing and clutch? Yes, a steel LS bellhousing, performance clutch kit, flywheel, and hydraulic throwout bearing are all included, unlike a standalone TKX purchase.

What else will the swap need? Expect to still source a crossmember, transmission mount, clutch master cylinder and lines, and, for automatic-to-manual conversions, a clutch pedal assembly.
