Tremec TDET18574 TR-4050 5-Speed Transmission GM 2WD

The TDET18574 is TREMEC's TR-4050, a heavy-duty 5-speed built for GM rear-wheel-drive trucks, SUVs, and restomods that need real pulling power rather than overdrive cruising alone. A deep 6.16 granny-low first gear gives it strong low-speed torque multiplication for towing and off-road-style use, while a 0.76 overdrive fifth still eases highway rpm, and TREMEC rates the case for 600 lb-ft of torque.

Built for towing duty

Carbon-lined synchronizers and fully synchronized forward gears remove the need to double-clutch, while high-strength helical gears and tapered roller bearings on every shaft are sized for repeated heavy loads. A lightweight die-cast aluminum case keeps weight to roughly 135 lbs despite the truck-duty internals, and gearing runs 3.11 in second and 1.71 in third on the way to 1.00 fourth, with 6.03 in reverse.

Shafts, shifter, and PTO

26 splines turn the GM-pattern input, handing off to 31 on the output, and an integrated shifter assembly ships with the unit along with the front bearing retainer and installation paperwork. A right-side, 6-bolt PTO mounting provision supports hydraulic pumps or auxiliary accessories, which suits work-truck and towing applications; a bellhousing and slip yoke are not included.
