Details & Inspection Notes
This TCET17805 is the GM-mount version of TREMEC's TKX, carrying the GM bolt pattern and built for GM muscle cars, trucks, and restomods rather than Ford applications. Like the rest of the TKX family it pairs a 2.87 first gear with a 0.68 overdrive fifth, and TREMEC caps torque capacity at 600 lb-ft, allows shifting all the way to 7,500 rpm, and limits the driveline to 8,000 rpm overall.
Fit in a classic GM tunnel
The compact, end-loaded case is sized to slip into many GM-pattern tunnels without major surgery, built as a ribbed, three-piece aluminum shell. Shift quality relies on alloy steel gears and multi-cone synchronizers, with bronze-and-carbon friction rings smoothing the transition through second gear at 1.89 and third at 1.28, landing on 2.56 in reverse.
Shaft sizes and what ships
Dry weight runs about 99 lbs, input splines number 26, output splines number 31, and the clutch release stays mechanical, with about 2.7 quarts of fluid needed. A rear stub shifter, reverse light switch, and neutral safety switch come with the unit, though the bellhousing and slip yoke do not, and there are three shifter mounting positions if you want to relocate it.
What vehicles is this aimed at? GM muscle cars, trucks, and restomods using the GM bellhousing and mounting pattern, rather than Ford applications.
Is there a warranty on this unit? Yes, TREMEC covers it for one year against factory defects in materials or assembly, provided installation is done correctly.
